Let me at the outset tell you that it is not likely to be worrisome.

The definition of menopause is the cessation of the period for 12 months.

So this bleeding make you perimenopausal (nearing menopause).

Menopause in some women may come like the same in your case, where there is long duration of missed periods and then a heavy period arrives.

You may need the blood work for the hormones and ultrasound if the bleeding persists more than seven days.
