How may subcutaneous tissue disorders cause jaw hypoplasia?

Customer Question

How may subcutaneous tissue disorders cause jaw hypoplasia? I have a disorder which has seen me lose a lot of the subcutaneous fatty tissue of my face. In conjunction with the occurrence of this, both my mandible and maxilla are now set much further back and have narrowed considerably. From my CT, it doesn't appear that any of the bone has been lost but they are set further back, so how may this have occurred?
