Generally there is sepsis causing pain, requiring root canal procedure. Pending dental visit, please use gel containing xyloaine, gargling with warm salt water and ibuprofen for pain every 8-12 hours. If it is dental sensitivity due to hot or cold, use sensodyne paste twice daily to brush and see.

Good luck.
