Hi there, I have a pain in my groin area. It is a throbbing pain that comes and goes, and if I push it, it hurts slightly.
Assistant: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: It started yesterday evening/night. During my sleep I wasn't affected much, walking and pushing it causes the pain.
Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: I don't believe so, no.

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I will try my best to help you.
I will answer in a moment/request for further information.

How old are you? Male/ Female?

Is it on both sides?

Do you have any other symptom? swelling? lump?

Any other past illness?

Did you take any medicine for it?

Are you on any regular medicine?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I am male, 24 years old.
It is only on the left side.
I've had a cough for a few days, I don't really see any swelling at the moment.
No past illnesses.
I haven't took any medicine and I am not on regular medication.

Thank you for waiting.

I am very sorry for your symptoms.

I understand your concern.

The pain in the groin can be due to a few probables.

There can be a muscle spasm or strain .

You need to give rest to it.

Arthritis of the hip can cause pain in the groin.

But it is uncommon in your age.

An impingement of nerve as in the spine can also cause pain to radiate to this part.

Urinary colic can cause referred pain here but you do not have any such symptom.

Skin inflammation, infection, hernia can be a source of pain here, but there should be some local changes like swelling, redness etc.

You can take Ibuprofen to get relief.

It can be taken 6-8 hourly.

Please take it after some food not in empty stomach.

If the symptoms do not improve, you need to consult doctor for evaluation.

Warm application can be soothing.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Can I continue to work? I work as an electrician or am I better consulting someone first?

If the pain does not subside with Ibuprofen & gets aggravated on working, then you need to see doctor first.
