My partner recently admit they have HSV 2. I have had cold sores since being a baby so I wasn’t overly concerned.Today whilst being intimate he panicked when he realised he touched me with the same hand he had briefly touched himself with and is now panicking, what are the chances I do contact the virus from this. He is not having an a outbreak though I know you are still contagious between

Thanks for the details

If there were no active sores then the chances if catching herpes are quite less

Usually it is transmitted once the sores are active and open

I think you should not worry about it

You just need to avoid coming in contact with any open sores and any unprotected sex

Hopefully that will prevent you from catching herpes

Please do let me know if you have any other question

Does the fact that I have HSV1 effect my chances of contracting the virus at all?

No HSV-2 is totally different from the HSV-1 and that does not put you at an extra risk of catching HSV-2
