I have had a toenail removed I would like to know how long this takes to heal
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: no I haven’t and none
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: nope

Thanks for your query, why did you have it removed and when was this?

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
I had it removed because I had an involuted toenail which was causing me a lot of pain. It has been 7 and a half weeks since I had it done and I’m wondering when I am able to stop putting the plaster on it

Are you able to send a pic of what your toe looks like at present?

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
here it is...

ok, I'll take a look

Customer: replied 22 days ago.

ok that would take up to 3 months to heal

you need to soak in salt and water also as it looks red and swollen

I also wonder if theres a tiny bit of infection there as its beem 8 weeks now

I think antibiotic cover would make sense also as infection can delay wound healing

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Another 3 months? It feels a bit like a scab but like you said it has been a really long time I was advised 8 weeks but te 8 weeks are nearly up and it’s doesn’t look nearly healed

Usually 8 to 12 weeks,

but looking at that toe, I would say another 2 to 3 mths at least cos it still looks swollen and red 8 weeks later

I do think you have an infection there hence its not healing as quick as it should

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Right okay, thank you

Also for new toenail to completely grow out again can take 9 to 12 mths

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
My toenail is not growing back. The chemical was put on it to stop it from growing back

I assume because it keep involuting

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
that what she said. Shall I go back to speak to the person who took it off or to the doctor?

You can speak to the person to see what she also thinks

and if you need to see the doctor for prescription she can write to them to do so
