goodafternoon, my new partner IS A DIABETIC. He tried to buy viagra at a pharmacy today, but they refused to sell him any, and said he has to see his Doctor or speak to someone at 111. Can you tell us why this is the case?
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: He takes Gliclazide 40mg x2 daily, and he takes something to maintain his blood pressure - it's 2.5mg but he can't remember the name. No he hasn't seen a Dr yet, this is all rather unexpected for both of us, plus it is incredibly difficult to get appts at his local GP surgery.
JA: Is this consistent, or is there some fluctuation in blood pressure?
Customer: He's just remembered it's called flidopine 2.5mg x1 daily
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: His main problem is the diabetes, but he's just told me he is allergic to metformin, plus he takes Puriton for seasonal rhinitis

Hi there,
I am an experienced Medical Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

I think pharmacist is concerned about interaction with felodipine.

Viagra and felodipine together can cause drop in blood pressure resulting in dizziness.

However, if there more than 6 hours gap between 2 medications the risk of drop in blood pressure is minimized.

Another reason, can be history of heart disease and taking nitrate.

Nitrate is contraindicated with viagra.

Once his doctor okays viagra, there should not be any problem.

This can be just verbal ok or a prescription from his doctor.

Best wishes,
Please reply back if you need any further clarification.
It was my pleasure to help you today.

filodipine 2.5mg x1 daily, and Gliclazide 40mg x2 daily and Piriton x1 daily

Thanks for sending the medication list.

There is no significant interaction with Viagra.

He should be able to get the prescription from his doctor.
