I recently had the COVID vaccine and my period is late. Can the vaccine have an impact on your monthly cycle?
JA: Are you in any pain? How regular are your periods?
Customer: No I’m not in any pain at all. I had the vaccine on Saturday last week. My periods are usually very regular (every 28 days) and I’m currently 2/3 days late.
JA: Is there anything else the Doctor should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: No I don’t think so. I’m just really concerned that’s all.

Hi! I am Dr Saleem. Welcome to JA.

Thank you for the question. I will be answering your query shortly.

I understand your concern.

The vaccine is not known to cause any change in the menstrual cycle.

Are you sexually active?

Is there any possibility of pregnancy?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Thank you. My other issue is that myself and my partner are hoping to go through fertility treatment this year. My clinic told me that it’s fine to have the vaccine.

No I’m not pregnant.

The vaccine has no effect on fertility or fertility treatment. You may safely get that.

You're most welcome.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other queries. Thanks.
