I have a bump on my lip that re-occurs every now and again.

Customer Question

Hi, I have a bump on my lip that re-occurs every now and again. I am not really sure what causes it but I can instantly feel like a hard lump and know when it’s goes to blow up. It comes up as a hard lump that slowly gets bigger and I can almost see like two marks in it that look like deep? This never turns into a cold sore as in gets dry and flakey but I am just not sure what it is to treat it.
JA: How long have you had the lump? Is it hard or soft?
Customer: felt it coming up yesterday and knew it was going to expand. It is hard.
JA: Is there anything else the Doctor should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: no thanks

Thank you. This is called a Mucocoele. It is a form of cyst. Harmless but can indeed come and go. If they don’t resolve you can have them treated surgically. You should ask for a referral to Maxillo facial surgeons if so.

That is my pleasure. A warm compress may help them drain a bit quicker
