Hi, I have been suffering from neck pain for the past month. It normally starts from the back of my neck, base of the skull right side. I was prescribed naproxen, but in 3 weeks, this pain didn't subside. There is no movement that specifically triggers the pain, it is mostly in the morning and randomly thoughtout the day. What is leaving me a bit frightened is 20 min ago, just a slight touch on my sternocleidomastoid was enough to trigger a severe pain that radiates from my shoulder all the way to my forehead.
JA: How long have you been dealing with the neck pain? Are you experiencing any numbness or tingling?
Customer: 1 month, and slight numbness on my right arm
JA: Is there anything else the Doctor should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Taking naproxen

Hi there,
I am an experienced Medical Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

You have developed nerve inflammation or neuralgia.

Lesser occipital nerve supplies the sternocleidomastoid and surrounding areas.

The pain can be sharp and radiating.

This can be caused by viral infection, cervical spine arthritis, herniated disc.

You will need to see a neurologist for further evaluation.

Prescription Gabapentin 300 mg 2-3 times daily will help with such pain.

Who can prescribe Gabapentin in this case?

Your GP can or a neurologist
