Customer Question

Hello. I have woken up with fluid in my right ear, but have no other symptoms. I did have a sharp pain inside the same ear before going to bed a few hours ago, but it doesn’t really hurt now. Should I be worried?

Hello. I'm Dr Chip
What do you mean by fluid in the ear?

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
It’s wet inside

I had something similar when I burst my ear drum years ago but that was really painful and there doesn’t seem to be any pain currently
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 16 days ago.

You may have an external canal infection

If this continues for another day you should see a doctor to see if you need antibiotic ear drops

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
Does it always mean a burst ear drum? Or can I have fluid there without a damaged ear drum?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 16 days ago.

It most likely isn't a burst ear drum
