I was chewing gum (just peppermint Wrigley's) going through

Customer Question

I was chewing gum (just peppermint Wrigley's) going through about 2 or 3 packs a day at least (sometimes more) over the last two months. It has become an addictive habit since quitting smoking.
On Thursday I went cold turkey and stopped it completely. On Saturday morning I had a very bad resurgence of acid reflux issues. Are the two related? I read for Acid Reflux that chewing gum helps with saliva production. After throwing it all away I just went and got some again now to try to calm things down. I assume it was shock to my stomach stopping so abruptly after so much?
Thank you.

Hello. I'm Dr Chip
Not related to your stopping the gum

You can treat that with either Pepcid or Prilosec

Ok what about sleeping in a different position? I normally have a posture support pillow and I was at a hotel and did not have that, actually I think I slept two nights propped up on 3 soft pillows which hurt my neck a bit.
