I've had a constant dull pain under my rightside rib cage

Customer Question

I've had a constant dull pain under my rightside rib cage for about 2 week, sometimes it goes away , seems to get better when I'm not working, I am well in every other way, just worried that there is something wrong with my liver, I dont smoke take drugs and only drink on occasions once a month
JA: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: 2 weeks, when I rest, I'm a carer, I'm off work today and the pain is dull today, not to bad but I'm very aware of it.
JA: Is there anything else the Doctor should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I had bad stomach acid about 2 weeks ago maybe this affected things, the acid has cleared up now as I'm on a strict health diet.

Are you still there ?

Ok in that case, this is not liver or gallbladder related pain.

Expert:  Dr Basu replied 14 days ago.

More likely this is pinched nerve related pain.

Nerves supply around the rib cage coming from your thoracic or mid spine.

Any arthritis or herniated disc at that area will cause pressure on nerves and pain.

You should get thoracic spine MRI scan and a neurology consultation.

Preferably a pain neurologist who has lot of experience in this field.

You can take over the counter Ibuprofen 600 mg per dose every 8 hours with food for pain control.

Warm compress also can be applied for local relief.

Medication wise, Gabapentin or Tramadol may help.

Physical therapy also recommended.
