Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hello. This is Dr Geyik and I will be assisting you today.
Can I please ask your age and if you have had any antibiotic treatments?
Do you have chest pain, breathlessness, fever, vomiting, etc?
And have you been tested for Covid-19?
Is it positive or negative?
If you are still coughing and feeling wheezy, you probably still have some infection left. Unfortunately, we are only an online advice service and we are unable to prescribe medications. However, if you call 111 now, they can prescribe a course of antibiotics and send the prescription to your local pharmacy.
You can try warm drinks with lemon/honey and steaming for the cough and wheeze for the time being.
Have you ever smoked?
The most common risk factor for COPD is smoking. COPD is diagnosed by various tests and you could make a routine appointment with your GP for this if you are concerned about this.
If you have asthma, this could actually be infective exacerbation of asthma rather than COPD. You could call 111 now if your breathing is quite bad and you are not feeling well.
There are different causes of coughing and not all of them are due to chest infection. Even heartburn or indigestion can cause coughing. The best thing to do is to make an appointment with your GP for full assessment and possibly further investigations.
Hope you feel better soon. If your breathing gets worse, you should call 111 for urgent assessment.
