Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hello. This is Dr Geyik and I will be assisting you today.
Can I please ask your age and if you have any medical conditions or allergies or take medications?
Have you had any recent trauma/injury, swelling/bruise on your neck, pain anywhere else, numbness, fever, cough, breathing issues, or other symptoms?
What was the diagnosis of sore throat?
And where is the numbness exactly?
Yes, we can text. I did not request phone call; they are auto generated and you can ignore them.
Also, do you have pain in whole neck or just one side?
The most common cause of neck pain is muscular pain. This is not dangerous but can be quite painful. You could try pain relief first to see if this helps. If not, you should see your doctor for assessment and possible X-ray. For pain relief you can try paracetamol OR co-codamol (codeine + paracetamol), and you can add ibuprofen to these, provided you are not allergic to these medications and you don't have asthma or stomach issues.
You are welcome. Hope you feel better very soon.
The ringing in your ears is likely due to muscle pain/spasm in your neck. If this persists, you can mention this to your doctor if and when you see them. If you develop pain, bleeding, discharge, hearing loss, you should see your doctor earlier.
