Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hi, could you tell me a little about what you'd like to discuss? Thanks
Ws, can you tell me more, it sounds like you've had a bad cold is that right?
Yes sorry I have a few patients
No that's ok. When did you last have a smear test? Are you sexually active?
As in do you get pain during sex?
ok understood. Are you under a lot of stress at the minute?
I see. The reason I ask is that being under stress can certainly affect periods but I didn't realize you meant it had gone on so long. In that case I would ask your GP to check you for anaemia with a blood test and they should talk to you about options to help reduce the volume of blood lost in your period. This can be in the form of some medication that shortens periods (like norethisterone) or they can talk to you about starting a contraceptive pill which will also do the same.
You can also ask your GP to refer you to see a specialist if needed, they will usually do the first tests which I mentioned above as well as an ultrasound first and then they will refer you.
and what did it show
Ok then I think you should ask your GP to refer you given you've had the right tests so that you can see the gynaecologist.
For the cough and cold take some phenylephrine which you can buy from any pharmacy as that will help and take lots of fluids. Otherwise if you just speak to your GP they'll be able to refer you. We can't speak to them I'm afraid.
You're so welcome, glad I could help. Customer services will be able to help you with that. Come back if you've other questions in the future all the best again.
