You need to have a urine test initially to get antibiotics

Expert:  Zee J replied 11 days ago.

There are 2 options for you to do it quickly over weekend:

  1. Either call out of hours GP tomorrow morning or
  2. Go to local hospital emergency (local A&E)

Once you have urine test then if needed they will also provide you with antibiotics

Until that keep using:

1. Paracetamol and Ibuprofen

2. Plenty of fluids

3. Cystitis Sachet

4. Cranberry juice

5. hold a hot water bottle over your lower tummy

6. avoid having sex

7. avoid drinks that may irritate your bladder, like fruit juices, coffee and alcohol

8. pee frequently

Expert:  Zee J replied 11 days ago.

Paracetamol 500mg tablets can be taken as 2 tablets every 6 hourly (maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours safely)

Ibuprofen 200mg tablets can be taken as 2 tablets three times a day (maximum 6 tablets in 24 hours safely).

However, you need to go to local hospital emergency if you have:

  • a high temperature, or feeling hot and shivery
  • a low temperature, or shaking and shivering
  • pain in the lower tummy or in the back, just under the ribs
  • are confused, drowsy or have difficulty speaking
  • are feeling or being sick
  • have not had a pee all day
  • blood in your pee

These symptoms could mean you have a kidney infection, which can be serious if it is not treated as it could cause sepsis.
