I’m 79 live alone. Have fistula for which I use pads from surgery . Just over an hour ago I started to loose blood from my anus, then large clots as if I had a period. Bright red. Stools loose but only I tiny motion. No pain but slight heaviness in gut . Clots smaller now but still gushing if I walk about. Is there anything I can do . Last Oats and a little cheese at noon
JA: Have you used any medication for fistula?
Customer: No. Non given had it 30 years at least...manageable if I don’t overeat
JA: Got it. Have you seen a doctor about fistula?
Customer: Originally but then handed to nurses. As I manage they don’t call now but are there if I need them
JA: Thank you so much for your time. Finally, is there anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: only that I rarely call on doctor. Husband died 3 years ago . I nurse him for years. But feeling ok.

I am very sorry to hear that this is happening. I would suggest if this is actively bleeding without opening your bowels that you are seen this evening.

If however this settles by avoiding straining then this would be reassuring and can wait for your GP tomorrow.
