Dear Mr Mechanic The roof of my 2003 SL350 will not operate.

Customer Question

Dear Mr Mechanic

The roof of my 2003 SL350 will not operate. The display says that the boot separator is not closed which it is.

Before I replace the sensor switch I would like to check the fuses? but do not have a fuse box diagram.
Do you have one or point me to the appropriate fuse please.

Many thanks. [email protected]

Hi Paul, I apologize for the wait. This fault can also be caused by a fault with the trunk lock mechanism. If the trunk does not pull down tight you can get the fault for the boot separator. I would inspect the trunk lid and make sure it is pulling down tight. If you find that the lid only latches but is not drawn down tight the trunk lock will most likely need to be replaced. This problem could also be caused by faulty wiring to the boot separator switch or by a faulty switch.

Let me know if you have any questions.
