Hi, Just driving back from night out turning a corner when the power steering failed. Display message "battery" came on - possible causes - faulty alternator, torn poly-V-belt or malfunction in the electronics. Says to check to poly-V-belt - where is that located? Don't think I can drive it to workshop without power assistance. Any tips?

on the front of the engine is a flat rubber belt that runs round all of the pulleys to drive the engine ancillaries

if this belt is broken or displaced then it won't turn the power steering pump and the alternator and more importantly it won't turn the water pump so the engine will rapidly overheat

so you can't drive the car until this is repaired

here is a similar belt run to your car
