2002 merc c180 with electronic ignition key. Problem is the central locking has stopped working and the ignition key won't turn,it happened at the same time. Any ideas?

The fuse for ignition switch is in interior instrument panel fusebox, fuse number 31, 20 amp.

Stan :

Please check it. Also make sure that battery is not drained.

Stan :

Unfortunately most common cause for such symptoms are either failed key or the ignition switch. So if you have a spare key, it is time to try it.

Ignition switch or the key failure will cause both problems at the same time. There is no easy way to bypass anti-theft system of the car.
