Yellow engine warning light is flashing, will not rev past

Customer Question

Yellow engine warning light is flashing, will not rev past 3000RPM when still and is spluttering sometimes when driving even a few times all power gone. Drives okay on open road but losses power when going up hill.

Stan :

Flashing light indicates that there is a temporary fault detected by engine control unit, which affects exhaust emission levels.

Stan :

The problem can be caused by fuel injection system (faulty injectors or pressure regulator) or diesel particulate filter regneration process (faulty dpf filter, differential pressure or NOX sensors).
Please have the engine management fault codes checked with Star Diagnosis computer. There must be stored fault codes detected which will tell more precisely what is causing the fault. Some independent MB workshop have the Star besides the dealers.
