I've just bought a Mercedes A160 elegance 2nd hand 77,000

Hi I've just bought a Mercedes A160 elegance 2nd hand 77,000 miles,03's has just went through an mot with no discrepancys but there is a constant ticking noise when I start the engine it goes away eventually but what could be causing it?

I'd 1st check the pulleys for any trapped stones in the pulley ribs if these are clear then it possibly a sticking valve lifter / tappet

these can often be cured by doing an oil flushing treatment

so these you add to the oil , let the engine idle until its fully warm and then drain it off, replace the oil filter and fill with fresh oil
