Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\DavidHPDesktop\Documents\Outlook Files\Outlook.pst is in use and cannot be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again. You might need to restart your computer.

1. Windows key/R, entered outlook.exe /resetnavpane and pressed enter.

This problem occurred after I downloaded a video download programme, gained a malware in my IE11 browser that deposited small Amazon & eBay buttons in the top margin (a browser re-direct malware?) In following advice to remove it I indexed a search window. May be the cause, not sure.
