This answer was rated:

For the last week my computer has received updates, (9 of them) whenever I switch off my machine.
However, when I next switch on it gets to 19000 odd of 22000 odd updates and stops and then shows 35% update which fails meaning that when i swithc off the same 9 updates will try again and fail again.
Hi there,
What is the operating system on your computer?

Hi Peter,
It's possible that the problem is with only one of the updates, and it is preventing the others from installing.
You will need to make a note of the update KB numbers and either install them all manually, or install one and then try updating automatically again, hoping that you have installed the offending one manually.
