i bought a new pc yesterday from PC World, also bought Office 365 subscription.
tried to set up last night but could not go further than entering the 25 digit number on back of card.
A flag came up to contact(###) ###-####
This turned out to be a company in US called Winsurf Technology who talked me into buying protection for life (15 years) with 2 payments of 499 USD.
I went ahead!!
I woke up and wondered if I had been scammed!
Checked on You tube and now a bit worried!
They did get the office 365 downloaded and installed Windows Defender on 2 x PC's as well as C Cleaner professional.
I only paid £379.99 for the Laptop and have now paid a further £670 for protection!!
Have I been Scammed??
Hi Graham, welcome and thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I am glad to assist you today.Unfortunately, you have been scammed by this Windsurf Technology company. I saw a lot of reports and youtube claims about this company being a scam. As you mentioned, you already subscribed or bought an Office 365 subscription so definitely, this is NOT part of what you have paid for them. Windows Defender is a FREE software so they did not spend a dime to get Windows Defender software since it can be downloaded for free. CCleaner Pro is indeed a commercial software that costs $24.95 per year so they gave you 2 copies of that but that cost is still very small compared to the fee they charged you. Even if they will pay for CCLeaner for you for 15 years, it is still to small to what you have paid for them and 15 years subscription is impossible -- this scammers can be gone quickly so there will be no one to contact should you need technical assistance with your computers. At this point, I highly suggest that you call your bank or credit card company and ask for help as to how the charges made to your account can be reversed. If your bank or credit company is helpful enough, you should be able to get these charges reversed as this company is a scam. Here are dome useful links for your reference: I hope that helped. Please remember to rate my service positively (3-5 stars/faces) if this helped. Tips are always highly appreciated! If you need further assistance, please do not rate me negatively with 1 or 2 faces. Instead, please reply to me so that I can help you further.Thank you!Best regards,Jess
