JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: no.. it says its up to date does the windows surface RT compatible with a pen

Can you please try to restart your system and then reconnect it by following the below steps:

Your pen uses Bluetooth to pair with your Surface. Here's how:

Let me know if it works then.

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth .

  2. Press and hold the top button of your pen for 5-7 seconds until the LED flashes white to turn on Bluetooth pairing mode.

  3. Select your pen to pair it to your Surface.

If you have already tried this then in that case, yes it seems like the pen does not support surface RT.
