Name is Greg, My goal is to provide you with excellent service – if you feel you have gotten anything less, please reply back,

Check engine light can come on for a lot of issue to do with the emission system, from a loose fuel cap to a bad O2 sensor .

To know what has malfunctioned is to have a good scan tool or a code reader hooked up to the OBD II system and check for malfunction codes,

From the malfunction codes you will know what has malfunctioned and what has to be repaired or replaced .

What i would do in your case is first check the fuel cap is on tight
it should click 3 - 5 times for a full tight closed cap .then disconnect the battery negative cable (Black) and press on the brake pedal .
Then reconnect the battery, then start the engine , check engine light should be now off ,if it comes back on then you will have to have a scan tool or code reader hooked up to read for codes.

If you are the DIY type then check ebay for a OBD II code reader these tools start off at £45.00 and can be used on all cars after 1996 up to 2014.

If the light stays off then it may of been just the fuel cap.

Need further assistance then please get back to me with the reply box and not the poor or bad service button .
