Customer Question

My dad has recently suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage. It was 6 weeks ago but has made a really good recovery so far. He went back to the hospital today for his 6 week check up but the MRI scan has shown there is still some fluid on the brain.
He has to go again in two weeks for another scan.
Can you explain to me why there is still fluid and what will happen if the fluid does not go?

Thanks for this question

Basically when a subdural hematoma resolves it leaves fluid behind

It is like when a bruise gets reabsorbed into the body and there is fluid left over

It is called a hygroma

this is normal

it should get better with time and reabsorb itself

I hope this helps. If you have more questions, just reply. :)
