Hello, my name is***** thank you for your question. I am a qualified MD with 18 years’ experience and I am happy to work with you on this.
I can appreciate your concerns regarding this issue.

Hot flushes are natural when taking alcohol.

Alcohol causes dilatation of vessels and this is what causes the hot flushes.

Hot flushes also happen during hangovers.

However, if you are having more than usual hot flushes, you should see your doctor, conditions like high BP, high thyroid hormones, etc can cause such flushes and need to be checked for.

Hope I have been able to clarify the situation for you and helped in resolving your query.

My concern is that it’s only happened over the last 6 months, I’m not flushing through the day, just when I drink, I only drink once a week, I was worried why it’s all of a sudden come on

It is best to show your doctor.

You may be having high BP, high thyroid hormones, etc.

A complete physical checkup would be needed to rule out associated causes.

If it was high blood pressure would I not be flushing normally throughout the day, also having other symptoms ?

In the initial stages of high BP for example, you might not have symptoms throughout the day but only when provoked by something like alcohol. If left untreated you would have symptoms throughout the day.
