Hi. Dr Hayat here.  Welcome to JA
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

Since when has he been having this ?

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
For about a year
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
I spoke to his Gp but he has not been checked face to face and has been diagnosed with migraines because of his symptoms
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

Do you mind mentioning his symptoms Plz

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
Nausea, he feels very weak and tired. The pain is around both eyes or sometimes one side only (only front of his head)
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
He knows when the headache is coming usually
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
This can last overnight, he goes to bed with it and wakes up with it
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

Has he been examined physically?

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
No he hasn’t
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.
What meds is he on ?
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
The GP has refused to see him
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
He has been prescribed Pizotifen but I haven’t been given it to him
Customer: replied 16 days ago.
As I wanted a second opinion
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

Ok. Pizotifen is one of the medicine used in its prevention.

Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

What dose has he been prescribed

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
2 at night
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

Ok. I would suggest to start it..Migraines do occur in children..Use it for 4 weeks and see the response to the treatment..It's a safe medicine.. if there isn't much of a difference by week four then he will need to be seen physically once and medicine changed

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
Are there any side effects?
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.

As I said it's a safe medication

Customer: replied 16 days ago.
Ok thank you. Is there anything else I can do? Can certain foods cause migraines?
Expert:  Dr Hayat replied 16 days ago.
Please go through this
