Customer Question

I have an 03 Primera 1.8se. Last winter I was driving it from cold and the engine suddenly cut out, with the engine management light coming on. I pulled to a halt and restarted the car with no problems but the warning light stayed on. It has done this frequently when the car is cold but it runs fine when warmed up. During the warmer summer months it ran fine but once the weather cot damp and colder it started cutting out again until warmed up. Do you have any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi .

You need to get your car hooked up to a diagnostic scan tool .this will let you know why your car is stalling .
this is why you have a check engine light ..

When driving your car and suddenly you notice that the check engine light is "ON" then this means the management system (ECM) has encountered a malfunction with in the system , in some cases you will not notice any difference in the driving quality, or you may notice the engine power has dropped or its starting to misfire ...
Now if you don't notice any difference in the driving quality, then you are okay to keep on driving until you have time to get to a shop, where they will hook up a diagnostic scan tool to check for malfunction codes .
Once you have the codes then you will know what has malfunctioned and what has to be done to rectify this problem..

When the check engine light comes on then you could have any of 100 of problems..

In your case you may just have a problem with the engine coolant sensor ,the scan tool will confirm this for you .

My goal is to provide you with excellent service – if you feel you have gotten anything less, please reply back with the reply box below and not the poor or bad service button ,
