Occasional blinking of oil pressure light at random times.

This answer was rated:

Occasional blinking of oil pressure light at random times. Checked the oil level and it is slightly overfilled. Car serviced on purchase 2 months ago.
Jake : Hi there
Jake : generally when the oil light just flickers like that, it's an issue with the oil pressure sending unit sensor
Jake : the best way to verify is to remove the sensor and use a mechanical gauge to verify adequate oil pressure
Jake : if you can verify the pressure is good
Customer: So does it need changing or should just carry on driving?
Jake : but the light still flickers then you need a new sensor
Jake : As long as the oil light is not remaining on
Customer: Any idea how much that would be?
Jake : and the engine is not louder than usual
Jake : than you can drive until you get a chance to check it
Jake : but yes it needs to be checked
Customer: Ok I'll get it checked, thanks
Jake : Your welcome
