2008 qashqai diesel will not start.when i turn over the engine excessive amounts of black smoke come from the air intake,the dipstick tube,and the rocker cover breather pipe.its like ehhaust smoke is circulating,no air getting into the system to allow combustion

Hi there, thanks for the question. If you have black smoke coming out of the intake and rocker cover than you have an issue with the valves or the timing chain. The easiest way to verify before tearing it down would be to do leak-down and compression tests to verify. For what it's worth though sounds like the exhaust valves are not closing. Not going to be a simple repair here.
