Customer Question

Hi Greg I have a 2011 Nissan navara and a problem started to surface around a month ago. Basically when it first started and I accelerated up to 3000rpm it had an on off power surge and as I surged there was puffs of black smoke, the truck ran fine if I just drove normally it only occurred when I put my foot flat down. The problem is getting worse as its now happening at lower revs so not just when I'm flat out. Any idea. I know nothing about mechanics and am nervous about taking it to a garage and being ripped off without the problem being sorted. Many thanks

Hi Rob.
Is your check engine light ON or any other warning lights ON when the engine is running .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No lights at all mate.

Iv had a turbo go on another can I had before and I'm pretty sure it's not that as the symptoms are completely different.

No Rob don't think its the turbo, but most likely a fuel supply issue .
First i would do the basics like fuel filter ,air filter ,check for air intake obstructions etc .
If this has been done then have a scan tool hooked up and check MAF, fuel rail pressure readings etc need a good tech to check and see which are on the boarder lines to cause problems but not trip the check engine light ..
There is also a ECM reflash / Update for an issue like yours the dealer will have to check if you have the latest update (very possible your problem).
