I have a 2006 Nissan Murano and I have a p1610 code security

This answer was rated:

I have a 2006 Nissan Murano and I have a p1610 code security light on will spin over but wont start
Assistant: Does the light flash, blink or stay solid? Have you tried to reset the security system?
Customer: light is solid
Assistant: Are you fixing your Murano yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: light is solid with the ignition on
Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: yes I pulled the immobilizer off and checked the four wires and none are hot

Hey there, this is a NATS lock out code from using the wrong key or an unregistered key.

did you get a new key cut and try to use it or something? or are you using the original key?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Original key

Then the key has lost it's registration.

you will have to have a mobile locksmith re-register the key to the BCM.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
They tried had a no communication fault

if you turn the key to ON position and leave it, does the condensor fan come on at the front of the engine?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Solid red security light

immobiliser might be bad then if the key is good.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Tried new immobilizer that didn’t work

if the ECM or BCM was at fault it would generally cause the condensor fan to come on which is why i asked.

the communication fault was with the BCM?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I think he said ecm
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
But when I scanned with my snap on all I got was 1610

yea, the P1610 is NATS malfunction lock mode

this is the process to get out of lock mode

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

2. Turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds.

3. Return the key to OFF position. Wait 5 seconds.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice (total of three cycles).

5. Start the engine

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Tried that didn’t work light don’t go off
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
U have any more suggestions

I think since your snap on scan tool connects to the modules just fine, that we have to assume its a communication issue from the BCM.

can you see all modules from your snap on?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Had to leave Home for a minute imma check
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Solus ultra

that's fine let me know whenever you get a chance.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Ok let me ask u this if I a used ecm and switch with key off eBay with the same part number can I put it in my vehicle and start it without going to Dearlership
Customer: replied 1 month ago.

well, not quite because the key registration won;t match the BCM

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I am screwed

There is no easy answer here since the ECM is VIN registered and part of the key registration process. When you immobiliser reads the key ID it's the BCM that sees the key ID and confirms registration with the ECM.

i think a little more in depth diagnostic is needed her to determine what's going on. Having a spare key to attempt registration would be helpful as well.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I just purchased this vehicle from auction it ran through auction I picked it up that day the battery was dead I tried to jump off it would not start
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
It only had one key no remote
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
This truck has a key not that intelligent system

yes, there was no intelligent key Muranos in 2006, i beleive they started that in 2007.

i have seen keys lose registration when batteries are drained for extended periods.

I have also seen people jumpstart these cars and leave the ignition in the ON position when they connect the cables and damage the ECM.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Almost home finna put my scanner back on it

k

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Where should I look

go to BCM

do you have an IMMU initialization?

you said you replaced the immobilizer? did you mean you replaced the NATS antenna amp? the part on the ignition cylinder?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No codes in bcm
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Yep that’s it
Customer: replied 1 month ago.

if that's installed wrong it will cause the P1610 is why I am asking. It would also prevent it form coming out of lock mode.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No codes
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Won’t go but one way
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I put the old one back on now

what do you have in the data option? I am not familiar with the solus, but the BCM has the IMMU built into it on this model.

you don't have an immu menu or NVIS or anything of that nature?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
This all I have
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
actuator tests

whats in the keyless menu?

basically here you have a P1610 lock mode.

  1. the key is bad
  2. the NATS antennae amp is not functioning
  3. The ECM is faulty
  4. the BCM is faulty.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
These

so you would want to try the manual release form lock out mode i showed you earlier.

If that doesn't work you before NVIS initialization and see if it completes. If it won't complete the BCM is likely.

I can't do much with the available options here.

how much do you have into this vehicle?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I talking bout turning switch on and off
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
U talking about what I paid for it

correct, i am trying to figure out what's your best option.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Got $1500 in it
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I sell cars

A dealer scan tool would make this extremely uncomplicated.

but worst case scenario here you could be out as much as $1000 if you go that route.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Do having a remote have anything to do with it
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Is there a fuse that would do this

the non intelligent key remotes can be manually programmed no scanner needed until 2007

3 of the fuses at the interior fuse panel relate to the NATS system.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Which ones

1, 18, and 21

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I see two that say electrical parts
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
All those good
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Anything under the hood

not much else we can do at this point to be honest.

just a fusible link for the BCM, but you would know if that was out.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
What about the ecm relay

ECm relay would not cause lock mode.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Should the four wires to the antenna be hot
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Brown and light green should show some power I am not getting nothing

immediately after turning to ON yes. its for a second then goes away.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Getting nothing with test light
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Have checked and I am getting nothing
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
My light green wire which it says should have fire is acting like a ground

being that you can't get it out of lock mode? it's hard to tell what you should be seeing honestly.

otherwise those references communicate with the BCM, which once again requires a dealer or mobile locksmith for key registration.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
what u think I should do try to get a key made first

well, your in a catch 22 here.

your not sure the key registration is good....... IF it is, then some locksmiths can copy the registration to the new key. This is hit or miss really.

to register a new key to the car, you need to get a mobile locksmith or the dealer lol.

There is a reason its the Nissan anti theft system.

you can't just cut a key and move along. You have to complete a pin conversion and have dealer or locksmith level scan tool.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
If I find a ecm ,bcm, switch and key out another Murano will it run then
it should
They won’t be VIN matched to the car but it should start and run

please be sure you leave me a kind rating, i have spent an extensive amount of time helping you and the site will not credit me for my time unless you rate me.

I am happy to leave the question open even after rating me.
