I noticed some brown spotting after about a month ago,

Customer Question

I noticed some brown spotting after sex about a month ago, then it went away. Then I bled after sex (fresh) twice last week. I have a small rough patch of skin right at the deepest part of my vaginal wall. I noticed it about 1 year ago its not changed. I thought it might be related to childbirth (scar tissue). Now I am concerned it might be something sinister. I have had every test for infection (negative).

I'm on contraceptive pill I took a month off last month as I forgot my prescription and went on holiday . I had the brown spotting/ discharge in the second pill free week whilst I was away and we had a lot of sex. I had no spoting in the rest of pill free month after. I got my normal period about 5 weeks and so I started my pill again and had no spotting again until the third week of pills. We had sex about 3 or four times between brown spotting and this fresh bleeding this week. But the last two times had very definitely been sex related.

I doubt that the bleeding means anything sinister, especially with your young age. I think it's much more likely related to being off and on the pill. When there is bleeding with sex, it usually means there is some other reason for the bleeding, and the sex just brings it on. I think your bleeding is likely due to going off the pill for a month. Once you're back on the pill and taking it regularly, I suspect that the bleeding will resolve. If not, then you'll need an evaluation. Perhaps it would be good now to see your doctor so that the rough patch in your vagina could be checked out to be sure there is nothing sinister.
