I am 10 weeks pregnant. I have woken up with swollen tonsils

This answer was rated:

I am 10 weeks pregnant. I have woken up with swollen tonsils and the beginnings of a cold. Can I take panadol for the pain? Also can I take a vitamin c effervescent drink? Is it safe?

Welcome and thank you for the question.

Yes, you can take Panadol for the pain - it is perfectly safe in pregnancy.

Although you can take Vitamin C, an effervescent drink usually contain 1000 mg which is too high to be taken during pregnancy as high high doses are suspected to be related to preterm births. It will be better to take a vitamin c tablet which contains 500 mg or less.
