Is it possible to do an ultrasound or pregnancy scan after

This answer was rated:

Is it possible to do an ultrasound or pregnancy scan after just a week after unprotected sex? I know they can be very expensive, but I am having a great deal of anxiety and would like to know if I can get any test earlier than an urine test. It has been one week since the sexual encounter. How much longer do I have to wait??

Hello, and thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you. Answers are for educational purposes only.

Dr. Lawrence :

An ultrasound would not show anything yet. The earliest indicator would be a urine pregnancy test. 14 days is appropriate.

Dr. Thank you for all of your help. I have been very very panicked about this situation as I have not been in it before and am actually in a new country by myself. I have not been able to find any studies online that help me understand that there is no sperm in pre-ejaculate. Is there somewhere you can reference me that I can read to help calm my nerves. Also again based on the entire story it is your opinion that I should not worry as much as I am?

I can not find any information saying that 14 days is enough time to wait to check for pregnancy. Can you help
Me out with that? Where can I check to get a good answer? Can I go to a doctor earlier?
Researchers find no sperm in pre-ejaculate fluid". Contraceptive Technology Update 14 (10): 154–156. October 1993.
Comprehensive Gynecology Text: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is always seen in the peripheral blood by 12th day after ovulation.....if you take into account that the home test is urine, and fertilization can take place up to 24 hours after ovulation, then 14 days is the right time to check a pregnancy test.
If the doctor sees you, then they can check a blood may be picked up as early as 6 days after ovulation, but I would wait at least 12 days.
