This answer was rated:

I had a non hormonal IUD fitted approx 2 years ago (replacement of previous). I am currently on day 19 of my 26 day cycle. On day 17 & 18 I had sex for the 1st time with this IUD in place. I haven't checked the strings for approx a year (bad of me I know), and on checking them today I cannot find them. I have taken 30mg Ulipristal Acetate and will be getting my IUD checked in a few hours time, but I'm really worried. Should I be panicking as much as I am? I'm 47 and a single mum - an unplanned pregnancy would be a disaster
I wouldn't be worried. Ulipristal is highly effective in preventing a pregnancy. Plus at age 47, most women couldn't get pregnant if they tried. Plus, your IUD may well be in place, but with the strings curled up inside.Since you're being checked soon, an ultrasound will show whether your IUD is in place. Even if it's not, the chance of pregnancy after Uripristal is extremely low. Your chance of getting pregnant the recent intercourse is about 1 million to one. Best regards.

Thank you - I naturally panic, and this would be a worse case scenario for me - looking at the charts, yes, only 5% of women would have a chance of pregnancy, coupled with the MAP and the days after egg release, the odds do look on my side.....hopefully!
