I had poly cystic ovaries in the past about 2years back but never took any treatment as I fixed it with diet and exercise and I still do an hour of cycling.

Hello again and I am sorry about the delay. If you still have irregular cycles, then despite your efforts to improve the effects of PCOS, you are still not cycling regularly. When you do not ovulate on time, this leads to delayed or absent periods. This is exactly what you are experiencing. Causes of anovulatory cycles include:1. Thyroid disease2. Elevated prolactin levels3. Stress or illness4. Being overweight or underweightWhen patients present with anovulatory cycling, we usually treat them with hormones to induce a normal cycle, and often hormones to regulate the cycle. Birth control pills are not a good idea if you have classic migraine headaches, but you should consider something called a Mirena IUD. This would lead to better control of your cycle and would also help to protect the uterus from pre-cancerous changes, which are a risk in patients with PCOS. Please let me know what you think so far and if you have any more questions.Dr. Tim
