I'm extremely concerned. My cousin is 17 weeks pregnant with her first child. A few hours ago she was in excruciating pain, went to the bathroom and came running out with water running down her legs. Her husband checked her private area and saw something white..he didn't go into too much details over the phone. She is currently in hospital and the doctors are waiting for a specialist as said they "haven't seen many cases like this"...my family and I are besides ourselves and are thinking the worst. What could be wrong? Any information, advice, possiblities, anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately it sounds like her water may have broken. The white piece he saw sounds like amniotic membrane. About 1/200 of all pregnancies are lost in the second trimester. While uncommon it does occur. I am sorry.
