My partner has gone into hospital with severe abdominal pain

Customer Question

Hi my partner has gone into hospital with severe abdominal pain and they found fluid assuming it’s a burst cyst, however she’s been in hospital for 12 hours and the pain is still unbearable I’m trying to find out if that could be ovarian torsion
JA: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: should the pain get better quickly after a cyst has ruptured?
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: Nothing makes the pain better she is 18.5 weeks pregnant

I am so sorry that she is going through this.

What is the management plan? Have they got the CT scan?

Is she on antibiotics?

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
They did an ultrasound and a ct and could see fluid in the abdomen
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
But her pain is just getting worse, she’s still there but they just keep saying they’re doing what they can, but I’ve been reading and I’m worried it’s an ovarian torsion
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
How quickly would pain get better for a ruptured cyst?
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
It’s worth know she has hyperemisis gravidarum too
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
I don’t think she’s had antibiotics as there isn’t any sign of infection at this stage I would assume
Expert:  Khizra Naz replied 22 days ago.

The problem with cyst rupture is very painful condition and it causes severe pain and infection. It can take upto 3-4 weeks to settle everything down.

She should be on antibiotics in my opinon, does blood show any infection?

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Okay should the pain get slowly better or does it just stop? No her blood is normal and no temp
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Expert:  Khizra Naz replied 22 days ago.

It would stop with time. It will stop.

Is she in the hospital at the moment?

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
but what I’m trying to find out is should her pain be getting better over time or does it suddenly stop, or does it get worse?
Expert:  Khizra Naz replied 22 days ago.

First it will get better and than it will stop eventually.

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Okay, so she’s been in hospital for 12 hours, they’ve given her morphine and iv paracetamol and it hasn’t done a thing for her pain and she’s telling me it’s getting worse
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
could it be something more than just a ruptured cyst? Like ovarian torsion?
Customer: replied 22 days ago.

Are you still there?
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Expert:  Khizra Naz replied 22 days ago.

Yes, I am here. Pain with ovarian torsion is really worse and it keeps on getting worse. It doesn't get better at all.
