I had a uterine sarcoma removed last month. How do we tell

Customer Question

Hi. I had a uterine sarcoma removed last month. How do we tell if it has all been removed?
JA: Have you experienced any bleeding? Pain? Unintentional weight loss?
Customer: No
JA: Thank you so much for your time. Finally, is there anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: This was discovered due to heavy bleeding at the same time as my period late last year. It was suspected fibroids until I had a full hysterectomy and these were removed. Upon analysis - the sarcoma was discovered.Customer: Chat is completed

I am sorry to hear, the sarcoma would have been removed with margins of healthy tissue, histology results will then be used to demonstrate if it has all been removed.

Customer: replied 20 days ago.
The tissue removed is being tested further.
Would I then need further testing of what is left inside me?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 20 days ago.

They may do scans at a later date as screening

Customer: replied 20 days ago.
Ok. But I shouldn't expect them to do further testing now? To check for further tumours elsewhere? To see if it has spread?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 20 days ago.

It depends on what type of sarcoma, but it all depends on the histology

Customer: replied 20 days ago.
Ok.

I'm waiting for the hospital to call me back. Can you help me with questions? So I need to know what type of sarcoma.
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 20 days ago.
Of course, do you mean now or when they arise?

What is your question then please?

What questions should I ask the hospital to establish if I need further testing

Wait for your histology result, you will be under the care of a multi disciplinary team who will determine what the next step is and what monitoring is required.

I would wait for this to occur once the histology result is back, they will then contact you and offer you an appointment to discuss further.
