MGUS stands for monoclonal gammopathy of unknown signficance.

gammopathy means abnormal proliferation of the lymphoid cells producing immunoglobulins or proteins used to make antibodies.

your blood doctor wants to keep a close eye on you to make sure to catch any potential bone marrow cancer like multiple myeloma which can arise in a small percentage of patients who have MGUS

MGUS is not a cancer but can in some rare cases be a recursor to a bone marrow cell cancer.

it sounds like your doctors are watching you carefully
