my son, 3 months old, he gets hiccup after the first laugh every time. he wont coo and laugh much when lying down position. is that normal? any cure for hiccups? he is mostly serious looking baby. is it something wrong that i maybe do so he is not very happy baby? i talk to him. laugh to him. sing to him. recently he is eating his hands a lot and will cry sometimes as if he is angry at his hands for some reason. please, i want to help his hiccups. he has them since born.

Hi, thanks, ***** ***** your query, will be replying in few seconds please. Dr. Yogindra

Hi, Both these acts are normal and physiological. (He is quite cute!) May be his getting hiccups prevents him from laughing much. Hands are perceived as toys and hence tries to put in mouth often, crying when unable to do so fully.

When having hiccups, you may give small amount of boiled water as sip. Also burp him well after each feed.

Good luck.
