My son has had bronchiolitis at 6 months and then again at 12 months - had to be rushed to the hospital with wheezing on both occasions. He also gets wheezy every time he gets a cold. Could there be another medical condition involved such as asthma?

other conditions can also cause similar symptoms. Conditions which you should discuss with his doctor are;

Asthma - bronchial asthma most closely mimics bronchiloitis, you should discuss with his doctors whether this is a possibility.

Acid reflux disease - this can also cause similar symptoms

Congenital malformations - sometimes there may be congenital malformations of a part of the bronchus or lungs which can cause this.

Foreign body in the bronchus can also cause such symptoms.

You should discuss all this with his doctor.
