Had clutch failure Peugeot 308 hid 1.6 diesel 50000 mls. Diagnosis clutch bearing seized & welded to clutch also caused master cylinder failure & clutch control cables damaged. Assured me DMF not damaged so authorised clutch replacement at cost of just over £1000 , test drive after repair revealed considerable vibration at point of control. Dealer then drew my attention to clutch replacement was in fact a refurb clutch , another 3 refurbs still caused vibration so persuaded them to fit New Clutch .Vibration reduced but still noticeable but they tell me nothing else they can do . Would anew DMF clear this ?
Hello, I hope the following assists you.
To start with if the clutch bearing had seized and got hot enough to weld itself to the clutch then I suspect the heat generated would have damaged the DMF.
You mention the clutch master cylinder was replaced but any bearing failure should have no effect on the master cylinder.
With regards ***** ***** new DMF if the DMF has failed you would get a vibration through the clutch pedal when you just rest your foot on the clutch, this may be accompanied by a noise from the transmission area.
As I said at the beginning the heat generated will have damaged the DMF.
