Just read your answer to a question about cat converter

Customer Question

Hi. Just read your answer to a question about cat converter fault light on a Peugeot 206. I have the same problem. It happened a few weeks after having the cat replaced. Took it back and mechanic said he couldn't find much wrong, lambda sensors seemed okay, but reset the bulb ??. The light was off.for a week but has now come on again. It doesn't flash on and off and the car seems to be running as well as it usually does. Appreciate any comments. Dave.

What initial fault codes did they get prior to the fault or clearing?

Where was the cat converter purchased?

The garage didn't provide any details of their measurements and they fitted the cat, again no information on where obtained.

Sometimes with aftermarket, cheap cat converter those that are not type approved can sometimes cause issues like that on these cars.seen it many times. cat converters are quite a common replacement on 206's..and sometimes its best to fit a proper type approved one...albiet a little more really need to know exactly what codes are being flagged up as and when the fault light comes it could be seperate issue all together that maybe damaging the cat converter.for example maybe a fuel trim issue, overfuelling or even as far an exhaust leak before cat and pre cat oxygen sensor..seen that a few times..
