Normally in that case because your car have selector cables that control the gear selection from gearstick to can be fairly common issue with the cable to bind up slightly normally in colder weather or give the feeling on being stiff to operate..normally a few methods can be done here..either have the cables taken out held up in a vertical position and spray penerating fluid down inside the cables or some sort of lubricant to help free them up..the other obvious method is to have them simply replaced..hope this helps
